Last year, after 25 years in the oil and gas industry, I joined the ranks of the unemployed. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do (still not sure!) but figured while I was deciding I would work on projects around home that had been ignored and put off for years because there wasn't time. One thing I wanted to do was paint the trim on our house. We have lived here 20 years and other than having the siding and roof shingles replaced due to hail storms nothing else had been done. I figured a couple of weeks would get the window and door trims painted. WRONG!! What we discovered was they had been painted with an oil base paint and so the acrylic wouldn't bond to it. Thus began the process of stripping, sanding, base coat and 2 coats of paint. It became a summer project and we still have a couple to do. Can't wait for spring.
